WC2010 – Day 1

We played our first two matches this morning. We had Dave Williamson coaching us. I ended up playing doritos for the event and it seems to be going well.

The first match was against the NJ Jesters and we had a good match. It ended up going 3 to 3 and ending in a tie. Or so we thought after the call from the ref. After getting ready to play our next match we find out that we are going to be playing an OT point to decide a winner.

So, we played our second match against Bad Element and won 4-0. Not much to say here; we had our game together this match.

Then onto the OT point. We had one point with 30 minutes on the clock. I got shot from S2 on the wrist after I made my bump to D2. Trust me, I wasn’t happy. So, the team had to grind it out without me. Five minutes later, after Travis bunkered their dorito player and then he somehow goes onto hang the flag, we lose.

The whole NJJ match had some pretty questionable calls. Overall, I’m happy with how it went down today. We did lose some stupid points. We lost a 4 on 1 and a 2 on 1 due to a lack of on-field communication which should result in the coordination of a successful close. But we just need to play smart paintball tomorrow and we should be good to go.

WC2010 is approaching

And I needed some new cleats.  My track spikes aren’t exactly legal and well, they kill my feet.  So I’m going to try some football cleats this year.  I figured they should work well consider he types of sprints and cuts that are typically done on the field.  The ones I found are hella light.  They are the Adidas adiZero Scorch Low cleat.  I guess we will see how they do in a few days.  I also found my typical tall tees at Finish line.

I also got my confirmation e-mail about my upgrades from US Airways.  First class on the way down to WC!  Gotta love it.

World Cup 2010

I’m playing World Cup with Aslyum Bears.  I guested with East Coast Mafia at the MSXL Championship in Owensboro, KY in September.  A couple weeks after the event I got a call from Robbie who played with ECM at the event as well and he asked me to play with them at Cup.  I had a great time playing with them so I couldn’t turn down the offer.

I’ve been in the gym as much as possible with work and been trying to get in the best practices possible in anticipation of the event.  We’ll see how it goes.  Unfortunately my NT is down and will need to be fixed before Cup or at the event.

See you guys there!

DC USPL, Day 1 Recap

So day 1 of the event is over. We had four games of our total eight games today. We came out pretty strong against our first team, LA Monstars (who are 4-0 right now, I think) but couldn’t close the 3 vs 2 and ended up losing like chumps. We turned it around and took the next two games, winning convincingly. Our final game against Infamy (who is a very strong team we have practiced against the past two weekends) went ugly as we lost player on the break out and then received a 1 for 1 penalty for a loader hit.

Since there are only nine teams in Division 2 this event they will only be taking the top eight. I think everyone played solidly today but we can all do better. Tomorrow will be a new day and we will step it up. Sunday, here we come! Thanks for the support everyone who commented, IMed, Facebooked, called and texted me.

Day 2

After an alright day yesterday we went into the day knowing we had a Bye which gave us 95 points. We also knew that we had to win two games to definitely be playing on Sunday. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Against our first team, Farside Kids, we got laned hard and couldn’t hold it. They were on a roll today and are playing tomorrow. Our next two games went down as losses because of, what I see as, a total breakdown in communication. Without communication there could not be any teamwork which ultimately led to our losses.
